Fund Raising on 11 May

The Allotments are selling plants outside the Square Brewery from 2pm on Sat 11 May.  The community garden can join in with a cake and book stall.  David is very happy for us to participate – there are three sessions in all, 18th May and 15th June as well, same time and place.

Any offers of plants, cakes, books and help on the day very welcome.  Let us hope for a sunny day and lots of people out and about. From previous experience most cakes, biscuits and buns go though anything with coconut not so popular!

Accessing documents

Hi Everyone

I have added Camilla’s and my original equipment lists together to avoid further duplication.

You can access this if you click on the Goodlife Community Garden tab on the top left corner of the web page and select ‘dashboard’ in the drop down menu.

Once you are in the dashboard click on media and this will bring up all the files which have been uploaded to the blog.

Any problems let me know

Adam

This may be a repetition as I have already typed something in the Blogg.  A neighbour offered me some plants, 2 cherries (wild) 2 ash trees. several re currants, and a dozen wild flowers.  I asked to keep them for us as we were not yet planting.  Have shown the list to others who feel that only the flowers and red currants would be welcomed. What do you feel?

Frost observation

Just to record that when we went past on the train at 7.30 this morning there was ground frost on the northwest-facing slope of the garden, but not the slight rise by the north west boundary. Hardly surprising, but useful to note – Keith & Lynn

Wish List

On Tuesday evening Amanda, Lynn, Sue and myself met to discuss next steps in the garden. We decided to prioritise Louise’s funding application to the South Downs National Park and looking at the design started to make a list of equipment and materials that we would need in order to get it built. Whilst some of these things can be financed through grants it is likely that we can provide certain items ourselves, perhaps by donation or a loan. Obviously we don’t want to duplicate our fundraising efforts so please take a look at the list below and let us have your comments/suggestions (or better still, offers!) You will see there are a lot of gaps and there are bound to be things we have forgotten …. (like hand tools!) so all thoughts welcome!

The list can be accessed by clicking here: Wish List

Welcome!

Hi everyone and welcome to our brand new blog. I have just sent out some invitations to you so that you can view, comment and start posting if you are familiar with how to do this. Don’t worry if you aren’t. I’m finding this out as I go along as well… Like the garden itself this is very much a work in progress and I’m sure it will evolve as we start to find our way around and work out how best to use it. Initially, we will keep the site as a private blog, i.e. only invited members will be able to view or post comments. At a later stage I’m sure we will want to open it up to a wider audience, such as potential new membership, other community gardens etc. I suggest that we use this section of the site to post comments/ideas and have discussions whilst the ‘Pages’ section will contain more ‘static’ information, such as membership and contact details, background info about our project, design info (eg the plan) and other documents that we might want to refer to.

I’ll shut up for now… over to you… Any ideas for pages, posts etc? Any problems or questions? Get commenting!
