We are a warm and friendly group of people who love to tend the Garden. We grow flowers, fruit and vegetables; learning from and sharing skills with one another. In the garden, we relax, have fun and socialise, enjoy the surroundings … and share in the fruits of our labours.
The Garden and orchard were started in 2013 for the benefit of the local community. Most of us are from Petersfield and the surrounding villages and we all have a say in how the garden is developed. We run garden events throughout the year, such as wassailing the orchard, picnics and bonfires, and open days.
You can come as much or as little as you like. There are always others to carry on your good work, if you can’t make it!
There is no membership fee .. while donations are important, most of our income comes from occasional fundraising activities and from grants. We spend our money on seeds, plants, tools and other things for the garden and on our rent to the Adhurst Estate Allotment Association (of which we are a member).
Why not come along and help it grow? You don’t have to be an expert gardener – we need all sorts of skills, such as building garden structures, artistic design, baking and providing refreshments for gardeners and visitors.
When do we meet? We meet on Wednesday afternoon from 2pm – 5pm and Saturday 9am-12pm. Just turn up. Members sometimes choose to come to the garden at other times too. Tools are available, or you can bring your own.
